Validweb

With my recent return to the world of freelancing I have taken the opportunity to overhaul validweb.

Due to the increased professionalization of web development over the past few years I believe I can shift focus to the more advanced topics of web development. I also abandoned the idea of posting exclusively in Dutch; though I feel there is a market for a Dutch web development community, I would like to reach a wider audience than the Benelux.

As I am currently in the process of fine-tuning my custom-built CMS things could be a little rough around the edges. If you find something obviously broken, please let me know.

Surf naar een willekeurige website en grote kans dat het een website ‘oude stijl’ betreft. Elke dag nog komen er websites ‘oude stijl’ bij, terwijl het enkel nadelen heeft. Semantisch correcte code, wat wordt daar nou eigenlijk mee bedoelt? En wat zijn de voordelen van websites ‘nieuwe stijl’?

In large tables it’s often hard to focus on one row, making it hard to extract data from the table. There are various scripts (client–side as well as server–side) floating around the net that provide the ability to style odd/even table–rows to aid readability of tabular data.

Almost a year after my comment at A List Apart, I still get quite a few hits for zebra.txt; my enchaned, more generic version of David F. Miller’s Zebra Tables script. My script wasn’t perfect either so I improved it and decided to elaborate on my changes.

In de perfecte wereld waren er geen oorlogen, had iedereen te eten en werkte alle CSS hetzelfde in alle browsers. Wakker worden! De verschillende CSS specificaties worden helaas niet door elke browsers even goed geïnterpreteerd. Ik leg uit waarom ik nauwelijks CSS hacks gebruik, en waarom ik conditional comments aanraad voor het omzeilen van IE bugs.

Ik ben lui en laat het liefst zo veel mogelijk voor mij gedaan worden. Door anderen, dieren, of zoals in dit artikel door de computer.

Ik heb geen zin om voor elk artikel een lijst met interne links naar alle onderdelen te schrijven, dus laat ik dat aan Javascript over.
